What Your Day Will Look Like

Consor is currently looking for an ADCI Commercial Diver to serve as an Underwater Engineering Technician in our Structural Assessment/ Bridge Inspection business unit. As a dynamic and growing engineering consulting firm, Consor is full of opportunities for career development. If you don't want to be at a desk all day every day and apply your Diving skill in the field, this could be for you.  We are looking for a driven, independent person with an ADCI Commercial Diving certification to advance their career in an expanding engineering company. Must be willing to work in the field, travel often, and able to assume increasing responsibilities as the job requires.

What You'll Do

  • Perform inspections and report reviews in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards requirements, and determine maintenance or repair needs
  • Review bridge inspection reports from inspection crews
  • Perform emergency inspections of bridges damaged by collision, floods, etc., as required.
  • Schedule bridge inspection crew work.
  • Maintain bridge records and files.

What You'll Need

  • ADCI Commercial Diving certification
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Taken the FHWA 2-week bridge inspection course
  • Other training in scour, stream stability, load ratings or any similar areas, especially OSHA
  • Bridge inspection experience Supplemental Information.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry 70 lbs. and wear up to 90 lbs.
  • Requires heavy physical exertion and effort
  • Must be able to perform tasks while wearing appropriate safety gear (i.e. fall protection harness, head protection, respirator, etc.)
  • Must be able to climb/walk up and down steep embankments, work within confined spaces, and climb overhead structure
  • Requires regular, overnight travel
  • Requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or outdoor work in extreme weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required
