What Your Day Will Look Like:

The Senior Payroll (and HR Reporting) Specialist will be responsible for maintaining data in the organization’s Human Capital Management System and providing necessary support to ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with government regulations. This is a hands-on position for someone ready to roll their sleeves up and get the job done. We are looking for a candidate that can identify gaps and areas of opportunity and is willing to self-start and assist us in moving the organization forward.

What You'll Do:

Payroll Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Manages Prevailing Wage and Certified Payroll Process, ensuring timely and accurate payment and filing.
  • Oversees timekeeping process, provides training and support to Timekeepers, and aligns timekeeping practices. 
  • Assists with bi-weekly payroll processing and provides peer review.
  • Reconciles various payroll and benefit deductions and provides support to Benefits Manager.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Demonstrates expertise in payroll business processes; understands and ensures compliance with federal, multi-state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Performs various HR cross-over responsibilities as requested.
  • Assists with year-end processes (W2s, merit increases, processing of annual bonuses, ACA reporting, open enrollment).
HR Reporting Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Understands key priorities and identifies ways to share data through regularly updated reports for ongoing managerial needs, customizing current benefits and compensation reporting as needed.
  • Performs in-depth investigations and analysis to determine the root cause of problems to identify gaps and continuous improvement opportunities. 
  • Designs and provides organization reports to ensure business leaders have the information necessary to drive solid decisions.
  • Collaborates within the HR team and with other departments to provide reports, HR data analytics and contribute to process improvements.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures as needed to provide appropriate reporting.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedure documentation for HR systems and operational processes.
  • Supports special projects, including, preparation of requirements, documentation, testing of new implementations, follow-up on timelines and deliverables and issue training to team.

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of payroll processing, compliance, payroll tax, and reporting, working in a multi-state company
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and multi-state payroll taxes.
  • Solid understanding of HR, benefit, and payroll wage and hour laws, tax laws, functions, and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong data analytics and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Payroll subject matter expert to advise all levels of management on best practices
  • 3+ years of applicable analysis and reporting experience for Human Resources.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to recommend and implement changes to better serve the organization.
  • Ability to work remotely, independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superuser with ADP Workforce Now, with advanced level report writing, system configuration, data mapping, and data import skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills including use of VLOOKUP and pivot table functionality is needed.
